Squad Leaders

Our Squad Leader will be an integral part of our community's commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and learners. Designed for high school students in grades 9-12, this program empowers them to take on mentoring roles while receiving guidance and mentorship from our experienced Bloc Captains.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Squad Leader position, candidates must:

  • Be actively enrolled in grades 9-12 at a local high school.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to leadership and community service.

  • Exhibit strong academic performance and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Squad Leaders play a dual role, both as mentees and mentors, embodying the spirit of "each one, teach one." Their responsibilities include:

  1. Mentorship under Bloc Captains: Each Squad Leader will be assigned to a Bloc Captain who will provide mentorship. This relationship is designed to help Squad Leaders develop their leadership skills, learn effective communication strategies, and understand the intricacies of project management.

  2. Leading a Squad of Young Students: Squad Leaders will mentor a group of young students ranging in age from 6 (1st Grade) to 13 years old (8th Grade). This mentorship involves:

    1. Tutoring students in their academic subjects to enhance their understanding and performance.

    2. Creating and leading engaging and educational activities that promote learning through fun.

    3. Serving as a positive role model and guiding students in their personal and academic development

  3. Project Support:** Squad Leaders will assist their Bloc Captains in the planning and execution of various community and educational projects. This includes organizing events, coordinating with other leaders, and ensuring the success of initiatives aimed at community betterment.

Training and Development

All Squad Leaders will undergo a comprehensive training program that covers:

  • Effective mentoring techniques.

  • Leadership skills development.

  • Project management essentials.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills training.

This training ensures that Squad Leaders are well-equipped to handle their responsibilities and make a meaningful impact in their squads and the broader community.
