We will be establishing community based funds that will be self sustaining (operating from a portion of the interest gained) to allow community members to have job security while focusing on community development and self determination rather than fundraising.

There will be a minimum of four Bloc Leaders to allow a Bloc Captain to take lead on each of the following core community institutions: Mentorn/Tutoring Students, Community Service Projects and Events, Culture Keeping & Violence Interruption, and Healing & Service Navigation. All Bloc Captains will serve as mentors for Squad Leaders.

Wealth Development Managers (WDM) will be responsible to facilitating a financial literacy course with Bloc Captains and community members. Upon completion of the training, the WDM will provide stipends to participants and support them in launching neighborhood businesses and investing their stipends.

Squad Leaders will be the mentees of the Bloc Captains. They must be in grades 9-12 and actively enrolled in a local high school. Their responsibilities will include supporting their mentors projects and also serving as mentors for a squad of young students raging from ages 6 yrs old (1st Grade) - 13 yrs old (8th Grade). They will mentor, tutor, and create fun activites for these younger students to engage in throughout the year.

Ella Baker was referred to as “Fundi,” the person in the community who masters a craft with the help of the community and teaches it to other people. Our Fundi’s will be responible for training Bloc Captains in their roles as well as providing political education for Bloc Captains and Squad Leaders.
